‘A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.’
Most of us could probably say that one year ago, we had no idea we would be exactly HERE today. A year ago my family was making plans to buy a cute fixer-upper house, less than three miles from Life Center Baker, where we were pastors. We had plans to keep on loving Jesus and loving the people near Baker Middle School, in Tacoma. Yes, I thought that I had good, predictable ‘plans’ a year ago, but the Lord sure did direct my steps. Have you noticed that the journey with Jesus is never lacking excitement?
Less than one month after completing our fixer-upper project, the Lord saw fit for Life Center Baker and Real Life Family Center to become one, and plans for Life Center Rainier were set into motion.
For those that I have not had the privilege to get to know, since Life Center Rainier was born on February 27th, there are a few things that I want you to know:
1) Tyler and I are humbled and amazed that God has asked us to be a part of such a beautiful body of Jesus followers. The love, support, encouragement, and prayer that so many of you have extended our way, MEANS THE WORLD to us. The ministries taking place everyday that meet the needs of our community are so touching. We are beyond grateful to be a part!
2) We pray for you and we covet your prayer for us. We ask God to give us wisdom in how to lead, grace to walk in what He asks us to do, love for our brothers and sisters, and a heart for the hurting and lost. We are FAR from perfect, but we aim to live out our life mission; to love Jesus with everything and to love people like He loves us. Would you pray with us for God’s will to be done at Life Center Rainier, and in our community? Would you ask God what He would have your part be in building the church?
3) You matter to us. We know that change is NOT EASY. Often in life we are found walking through change that we did not ask for. I believe that those seasons are critical and used by God to develop the fruit of the Spirit in us. When circumstances are out of my control, I can boldly go to my Abba Father and ask Him to help me trust that He knows the plans that He has for me. They ARE plans to prosper me and not to harm me, to give me a hope and a future. I’ve found that He often uses “out-of-my-control” circumstances to grow me beyond where I would have grown otherwise.
4) I would love to get to know you! If we haven’t sat down for coffee yet, it would be my honor to buy you a cup of coffee and to hear your story. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll set up a date!
With much love,
‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[ your paths.’
